How do I get OpenOffice documents to open in Microsoft Office?
I have an OpenOffice spreadsheet that I want to open with microsoft office excel as well as an OpenOffice word that I want to open with microsoft word.
Is there an extension program that I can download for MS office to open all other formats (.ODT and .XML)
Thanks.
OpenOffice uses its own file format, which is incompatible with Microsoft Office, so you will need to use the Openoffice SAVE AS feature to save your document using Microsoft Office formats.
Also, OpenOffice can open Microsoft Office documents automatically. Just double-click on an Office file and OpenOffice will import it. Although OpenOffice will open Microsoft Office files, not all Microsoft Office features are supported within OpenOffice, it will depend on the complexity of the document.
TO my humble experience they both are interchangeable that is you can open Office application files thru open office and vice versa
The latest version of microsoft office (2007) will open open office docs anyway!! Whats the problem?!!!
Open it in OpenOffice, then ‘save as’ in the desired Microsoft format.
