How do you grab images from the internet using visual basic programing?

I already know how to get the source (webpage html) using a webclient on visual basic. But what i want is to be able to screenscrape (parse) through the code and make it display a certain image from the website into a picturebox.
I believe you would also need a webclient for this, also screenscraping through xml coding too.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

You would have to seperately download that web document, and scan for the <img tag. Then find the source and display it.
Chances are there are more than one image on the page, so you’ll have to display all the images, possibly in a list, then the user can click items on the list and the image will be displayed.

There are no pictures in the code, just links to the pictures. You dowmload the picture files to disk, then display those files, just like you display any other files.

  3. Nice first part!

There’s some of the stuff I don’t agree with, but I’m totally biased (being an Umbraco fan boy and everything) :-P
I’ll comment on this once all the parts are posted.

One thing though: It seems like Sitecore is trying hard to be/include more that one thing: Being a CMS, Marketing Platform and Analytics package. Umbraco will never do this (according to the founder), but only do one thing (good): Being a CMS and a content framework.

So with these two totally different approaches, one will always have more stuff/features than the other. And in my experience, that’s not necessarily a good thing.

But keep up the good work! Looking very much forward to the next parts, hoping they are equally well written

An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers

More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
