I am doing some Ajax work and have noticed that there appears to be a maximum length for a string that Firefox enforces that Internet Explorer does not.
1. Is this something that should be enforced?
2. Is there a way to circumvent this problem?

I can’t find anything on line about firefox having a maximum length for strings. Have you tried echoing the string (by using "alert(stringVariableName);" right after obtaining the string and seeing if it gets cut off? Perhaps the object that you are trying to put the string into is chopping it for some reason.
If you are still having troubles, perhaps try splitting the string into a couple of smaller strings in the XML file and then join them together in your code later.
Are you able to post any code snippets so I can see what is going on in greater detail? I am very curious to know if there is actually a maximum string length. How many characters does it seem to get cut off at?
