How can I open/view xml files content that has been "packaged" into a zip folder?

I read a lot about how the xml file format and open xps makes it easier for interoperability, so WHY can’t I just open the content of this zip? It looks like everything’s there- relationships and such… so how do I open/view, and ultimately print this? I am running Windows Vista with MS Office 2007.
