unzip a zipped microsoft word file – error msg: Office Open XML file cannot be opened?
I can email this zipped file to friends and they open it just fine. But when i try, I get message: "The Office Open XML file (file name) cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents."
I created the file – maybe their are settings on my computer I need to change?
Could it be that you are using different versions of Microsoft Office? Only the most recent version of Office 2007 can read the Office Open XML file format, DOCX The older versions (Office 2003 and before) support DOC.
One option is to avoid documents in DOCX format altogether. You can tell Office 2007 to save in the compatible DOC format using the instructions in the following report, "Taking control of your documents".
